SUMMARY
This position is part of the Atlanta Asphalt Plant Maintenance Team and plays a role in improving overall reliability and performance of manufacturing and infrastructure equipment. This opportunity is critical to the performance and continued growth of our Asphalt plant. Here’s a brief outline of this role… Principal Duties and Responsibilities: |
- Performs emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, pumps, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Troubleshooting basics, how to analyze a problem and the steps to identify the root cause. Helps reduce cycle time to problem resolution and eliminates the “replace and see what happens method”
- A mechanic should be capable of repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the following equipment at a minimum: Pumps, Valves, Pipes, Burners, Filter System, Agitators, Blowers, Check Valves, PRDs, Pipe Insulation, Steam Traps, and Fans.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Ability to precision align belts, gears or direct coupled shafts using proper tools to specified tolerances.
- Answer line calls in a prompt manner and carry required tools to complete work safety and efficiently
- Complete scheduled jobs and work orders as assigned
- Assist during process upsets as needed.
- Actively engage in the plant's Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts through maintaining 5S standards and area/pillar activities as assigned.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment.
- Follow the company waste management program - separate all recyclable material and discard waste into the appropriate containers to ensure sustainability efforts maximized
- Remain actively 100% engaged in all safety initiatives and comply with all plant safety regulations
- Comply with all plant rules and corporate policies regarding business conduct
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High school diploma or general education (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate degree preferred
- Qualified Lift Truck /Bob Cat Operator
- Knowledge in mechanical repairs, welding, electrical to include PLC and electronic drives, fabrication, plumbing, etc.
- Ability to take precision measurements
- Knowledge of Industrial maintenance craft skills
- Good oral and written communications skills
- Basic computer knowledge and skills SAP, Word, Excel, etc.
- Knowledge of all safe work procedures
- Self-starter, motivated and goal oriented. Able to demonstrate good leadership skills and risk management coupled with high tolerance for stress
- Properly use tools and housekeeping resources (examples – mop, broom, powered industrial floor scrubber, shovel, pick, paint brush, lawn mower, weed eater, rake, etc.)
- Assess and only operate equipment when all guarding and safety devices are in proper working order
- Must understand verbal and written instructions
- Must be self-motivated to work independently and in a group
- Must perform basic mathematical calculations
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
The employee must be able to perform:
- Basic computer knowledge and skills (SAP, Word, Excel and etc.,)
- Log onto a computer and navigate via keyboard to access paycheck/benefits enrollment information and accomplish required online training routinely.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee must possess the following:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- Must be able to prove sustainable authorization to work in the United States.
- One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to operate a Lift Truck.
- Knowledge and adherence of all safe work procedures.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be capable of reading letters and numbers and have good color perception.
- Range of Motion full, some bending, lifting, and standing for an 8-12-hour period.
- Lifting Capacity: Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 40lbs chest high.
- Sitting/Standing/Climbing: Standing for 12 hours daily and moving up and down stairs and working at elevated heights.
- Walk/stand on concrete floors continuously for up to 12 hours
- Routinely ascend and descend stairs and ladders as work area requires
- Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – steel toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask), gloves, bump cap/hard hat as necessary for task
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent will work in dusty, dirty, hot, wet conditions, or at elevated heights. The job requires stamina, because the employee stands most of the day and, at times, may need to move moderately heavy cartons/cans of asphalt. The incumbent is exposed to hazards such as hot equipment, product, and fumes. He/she may work in awkward a position which exposes them to additional hazards. They are required to use protective equipment such as safety shields, safety glasses, steel-tipped shoes, gloves, and other PPE.
