SUMMARY

The Melt/Shot/Wire Draw purpose is to clean, purify, and convert raw materials into ingot/wire form to support the Stock Cut and Fabrication areas.   The process is completed through the use of induction melting and forging equipment. This person needs to have awareness of self, equipment and raw material at all times; as this is of the utmost importance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

  • Adhere to all OC and Plant specific requirements
  • Participate on safety teams
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Recognize, report and correct safety hazards upon identification

Administration

  • Computer transactions
  • Verifications of alloy transfers Manage inventory supply for processing
  • Complete and record all quality data
  • Metric board maintenance

Quality

  • Inventory accountability
  • Follow all process controls and provide documentation
  • Inspect all work for accuracy

Main responsibilities

  • Handling of multiple ingots
  • Handling of pans of alloy
  • Operation of melting equipment
  • Operation of forging equipment
  • Melter preparation
  • Forging ingots using the TDA Buddy system or manual tongs
  • Testing alloy types
  • Operation of shotting equipment
  • Preparing crucibles for melting and shotting
  • Form wire from ingots using wire draw equipment

Regular Attendance

All other duties as assigned or needed

  • Flexible to changes that are needed to meet business demands
  • Available and willing to work 1st, 2nd, or rotating shifts as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years operating equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Participation in process improvement activities within a team setting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work well in a group on different tasks towards one common goal
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to use and read micrometers
  • Focus on quality (i.e. contamination, void identification)
  • Ability to accurately complete inventory controls/transactions
  • Ability to stand for extended period of time while performing job duties
  • Ability to detect flaws in operation of mechanical equipment
  • Familiar with continuous improvement disciplines such as TPM methodologies
