PURPOSE OF THE JOB

A Multi-Craft Tech maintains, installs, removes, constructs and repairs facility equipment safely. Ensures plant equipment performs at maximum levels and minimizes unscheduled interruption of the plant operation. Responsible for both electrical and mechanical industrial maintenance activities. Familiarity of programmable logic controllers, electrical systems, and process control systems is required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal industrial electrical and/or mechanical maintenance experience
  • Formal classroom industrial maintenance training
  • Mechanic and Electrician Evaluation Tests - Minimum Score
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexible to work 12-hour rotating shifts with every other weekend-end off. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree or Technical Certificate in Industrial Electronics or Maintenance preferred.
  • Proficient in Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Maintenance knowledge with handling, installing, testing and operating all types of mechanical and electrical equipment including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, motors, MCCs, electrical, HVAC, PLC, etc.
  • Precision and Predictive maintenance techniques knowledge and applications
  • Maintenance planning and scheduling knowledge to execute planned work and record unplanned work
  • Determines the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Maintenance metrics knowledge to monitor, optimize and drive continuous improvement
  • Effective communication skills to work with all levels of the plant organization, contractors and vendors
  • Mathematical ability utilizing arithmetic, algebra and geometry
  • Ability to read and work from technical manuals, engineering drawings, sketches, charts, etc.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with large industrial equipment
  • Quick decision-making ability to overcome upset situations
  • Work independently and cooperatively with others
  • Requires little or no supervision, and operates both safely and with a sense of urgency
  • Accepts change and considerable variety in the workplace
  • Must learn new controls technologies and systems as required throughout plant
  • Identifies complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Lift, carry and handle up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate cranes, forklifts and various man lifts

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

  • Navigate SAP Work Order System proficiently
  • Utilize a keyboard to routinely take online coursework and input work order information

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures operation of machinery and electrical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on all plant, ancillary and facilities necessary equipment
  • Actively and consistently engages in Total Productive Maintenance and transfers knowledge in the basics of Autonomous Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance
  • Programs HMIs, PLCs, Servos, and other electrical systems
  • Makes safe, timely and appropriate decisions when an emergency or breakdown occurs so that production interruption is minimized
  • For equipment or processes where maintenance costs are high, where reliability is low, or where chronic problems exist, performs additional analysis to identify appropriate maintenance practices (e.g., Root Cause Failure Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Reliability-centered maintenance analysis).
  • Diagnose basic electrical problems and determines how to correct them, checking schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary
  • Uses PLC computer interfaces for troubleshooting
  • Uses the manufacturing communications network effectively
  • Follows the plant safety process and ensures that good safety habits are instilled in the other craft labor and equipment operators.
  • Maintains an awareness of all safety issues within area of responsibility, and responds with appropriate urgency to correct safety issues identified.
  • Ensures compliance with the electrical Arc Flash and Lock, Tag, Try (LTT) safety initiatives
  • Develop and provide skills training to other employees
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing professional and intercompany networks
  • Regular onsite attendance
  • Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the supervisor
