Description:

  • The Plant Controlleracts asa dynamic leader on the plant leadership team for all aspects of the full financial context of the plant’s activities.
  • He/she is responsible for maintaining a control environment that complies with the Company’s internal control policies and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX).
  • He/she manages all the processes linked to financial planning & analysis in the plant.
  • The position reports hierarchically to the Plant Leader with a strong functional reporting accountability for driving results to the Manufacturing Finance Leader of the Region and is a key member of the local management team.
  • This position is responsible for managing sourcing and warehouse operations.
  • Span of Control: the position will be responsible for monitoring non-financial plant administrative processes linked to or having impact on the objective of driving the plant’s profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety
    • The Plant Controller strongly supports Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards for an injury free work environment
    • Fosters and ensures a culture which enables a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors, showing a passion and caring for people
    • Demonstrates an understanding of and applies the OC Safety Toolkit to drive improvement consistent with the OC culture and strategy

  • Operations planning
    • Participates in the development of plant operational objectives & strategy to align with Corporate and Business strategic objectives
    • Pro-actively leads the development of productivity improvement, corrective actions, and contingency plans to ensure facility financial results and shareholder value is optimized

  • Financial and Operational Controls
    • Ensures there is an effective and efficient system of internal controls including data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, budgeting, financial reporting, information systems and adherence to corporate policies and governmental regulations (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.)
    • Leads and coaches the plant management team to ensure that accountability for internal controls is clear and processes are documented
    • Drives a robust controller representation letter and a documented process that provides assurance and visibility to a sound internal control environment
    • Leads the Continuous Sign-off process to ensure that accountability for internal controls is clear and validated

  • Reporting and analysis
    • Leads the plant’s financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
    • Prepares and delivers the plant’s financial forecasts and projections
    • Leads the plant’s monthly closing process
    • Communicates results effectively and timely to the plant management and segment Finance Leader
    • Provides in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast
    • Provides risk analysis for contingency planning

  • Driving plant profitability
    • Leads actions in line with TPM thinking and methodology to achieve targets, mitigate risks and prioritize resource needs
    • Leads Office Pillar and is responsible for driving pillar to achieve plant targets
    • Successfully transition projects from ‘Planning to Execution
    • Provides insightful and competitive analytics that anticipate change and drive decision making
    • Provides investment analysis
    • Assists in contract evaluation and negotiation where needed
    • Educates plant personnel on key performance metrics and financial results

  • Cross-functional leadership and team contribution
    • Proactively participates in plant operations via internal meetings, interaction with staff and hourly employees, walk the floor, advocate safety, …
    • Work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant, division and/or corporate objectives
    • Shares best practices across the business, i.e. process improvements, financial modeling and procedures changes.
    • Aligns teams and resources to solve problems and drive results
    • Provides support to team members at plant, segment and corporate level

  • Leadership for the oversight and accountability of plant security
    • Ensures the coordination, delegation and successful completion of site security functions, included but not limited to: Managing/implementing OC Security Standards, quarterly assessment of security equipment, security capital project management, incident investigation coordination (contact for local authorities, communication with WHQ), talent management of security guards, site contact for security audits and visits, and monitor completion of WHQ required training.

  • Leading and developing talent
    • Creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management, talent evaluation systems and utilization of people.
    • Acts as a resource to the non-financial leaders of the business providing education and training on the key principles of Finance.
    • Invests in the growth and development of his/her direct reports and other identified talent in their organization 

Job Requirements:

Prerequisites:

  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability accompanied by knowledge of corporate finance and manufacturing costing principles, understands P&L and balance sheet dynamics
  • Demonstrated high growth in previous experience
  • Profound leadership skills
  • Excellent knowledge of English, knowledge of other languages is an asset
  • Good skills on Windows, Word, Excel, Power point and Outlook

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or relevant discipline or at least equivalent through proven track record and working experience of 5 to 10 years in a similar function in an industrial operations environment
  • Experience in operating in a range of economic conditions, i.e. expansion, contraction, stable economic conditions - forecasting, scenario planning, risk analysis and contingency development
  • Providing leadership within a manufacturing organization leading operation planning, savings, forecasting and investment analysis
