PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This role is part of the Composites Solutions Business and is accountable for performing daily outbound transportation tasks and carrier related communications for the Glass Reinforcement facilities. The logistics expert will assign daily freight to the Owens Corning carrier base to meet delivery dates of customer orders in the most cost-effective manner. The incumbent will collaborate very closely with Customers, Carriers, Customer Service Specialists, Material Planners and other OC organizations as necessary to identify and troubleshoot issues to ultimately deliver our product on-time and damage free to a growing business. This person will need to have a very strong tie with our carriers and managing expectations of our carriers to support the business needs. This role will require the transportation expert to embrace and actively display the Owens Corning values, stands and purpose.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.

  • Participate in all required safety training
  • Educate team members on safe operations
  • Effectively communicate Owens Corning’s stand on safety throughout the Blythewood facility to ensure all employees believe in and behave in a manner that supports our stand that all accidents are preventable, safety is everyone’s responsibility, and that working safely is a condition of employment at Owens Corning

Managing service for our customers and key stakeholders:

  • Ensure timely and damage free delivery
  • Actively manage carrier performance
  • Proactive customer communication
  • Support OC plant activities to ensure timely loading
  • Verification of loading and delivery of material
  • Leverage basic supply chain understanding to maximize value for our customers
  • Recognizing and acting on customer opportunities
  • Ensures trade compliance for international trade activities
  • Develops a strong working and strategic relationship with our transportation carriers & partners
  • Provides key input to the Logistics Sourcing team on service requirements and performance
  • Strong understanding of plant operations and SAP systems

Achieve customer satisfaction commitments:

  • Develop insights and recommendations to collaborate with the Commercial and Supply Chain teams
  • Develop sustainable processes to ensure the customer’s experience is exceeded by integrating the role into the customer’s processes to allow OC to grow with the customers identified by the sales strategy
  • Participate in customer visits (both onsite and at customer locations) to better understand customer needs and requirements and how the rebar team can grow the business
  • Seeks to understand the needs and processes of our internal and external customers regarding service expectation, use of product and receiving procedures
  • Utilizes TPM methods to improve processes and eliminate all losses where possible

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience in a supply chain/analytics related field
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior Logistics experience preferred
  • Continuous Improvement experience preferred
  • Power BI experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience making high-impact decisions in fast-paced environment
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement preferred
  • Exposure to large integrated software systems (ERP, MRP, SAP,) Preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
