Wendy Gramza, President, Toledo Chamber of Commerce: The Toledo region is a place where we make things. That goes back to our long manufacturing heritage, but it also goes to the accessibility and affordability of our region that you can make a life for yourself here. You can make a career. You can make a family. And life can be great without sacrificing the cultural amenities or the other things that you might think you'd be missing out by not living in the big city. Really the Toledo region is a place where you can have it all.
Mike Thaman, CEO & President, Owens Corning: I think that what we have found is that if you can get people to come to Toledo and experience Toledo, they fall in love very quickly. You know, it's it's a, it's a very warm town. It's a very inviting town. There is a lot to do.
Dean Monske, President & CEO, Regional Growth Partnership: It's a great Midwest culture. Its people are just friendly and down to earth, and they make you feel welcome. That's what we hear every single time we have people come into this community.
Paul Toth, President, Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority: We got world-class Mud Hens Triple A ballpark. We've got ProMedica, one of our top employers in the community moving their headquarters, and over a thousand jobs back to downtown. Hensville which is an entertainment district around the ballpark. It's really kind of becoming the social focal point for our community and continues to be.
Dr. Sharon Gaber, 17th President, The University of Toledo: Probably what impresses me the most about the region is that there really is strong community support for this region, for the activities here. The impression is that Toledo isn't a destination always. Yet the reality is, when you look at the data, people are coming from around the country and around the world to attend these events and to take part in world-class activities and a great quality of life.
Thomas M. Kelley, Sr. Vice President, Marketing, Marathon: The, um Midwest culture is what really defines our company: the strong work ethic, um, generations of employees who continue to work with the company generation after generation. But we kind of like our meat and potatoes approach to the market. And we are a company that prides ourselves in caring for our fellow employees and willing to outwork our competitors and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Richard Hylant, Executive Vice President, Hylant: I personally love the Metroparks and getting outside. The environment's my passion. My mom was a docent at the museum. My sister um is been on the board at the zoo. And we've got deep roots there at the zoo which is one of the best in the nation.
Sharon Speyer, Regional President, Huntington: Downtown has a buzz and a vibrancy, uh, when I leave work that we didn't have, um, you know, a few years ago.
Richard Sweeney, Regional President, Toledo Edison: I have a nine- and eleven-year-old. We spend a lot of time at the zoo, Imagination Station. We are slowly but surely introducing them to roller coasters. To me the best amusement park in the world is about an hour away.
Randy Oostra, DM, FACHE, President & CEO, ProMedica: You have the Walleye, you have the Mud Hens. We have a lot of great entertainment venues. You start to look at all the amenities that we have in our communities. It's just really been a great place to raise a family. Great place to entertain. Just a great place to recruit people too.
